CANTON — The Canton softball team played with the defending NTL Small School champs for half a game, but CV blew it open down the stretch for the 13-3 win Saturday.

CV led just 6-3 going into the fourth when they scored four runs. They would add three more over the final three innings for the 10-run win.

Jaylee Ward (1-for-3), Charleigh Anderson (1-for-3), and Addi Pepper had the three Warrior runs, as Audrey Bastion (1-for-1) record an RBI. Alyssa May (1-for-3) added a hit.

Ward started, and went three innings to strikeout two with three walks, 11 hits, and 10 earned runs. Tara Gilbert tossed the final four innings, striking out two with four hits, two walks, and three earned runs.

Ashley Woodring got the win for CV, striking out 10 with one walk, four hits, and three unearned runs.

CV led 2-0 after one, and 3-0 going into the bottom of the third when Canton rallied with two outs as Bastion singled in Pepper to make it 3-1.

The Indians added three more runs in the third, but Canton responded in the bottom half of the inning. Anderson led off with a single, then scored on a Ward single, while Ward would run around the bases to home off CV throwing errors.
