NTL SOFTBALL: NEB POWERS THEIR WAY PAST SAYRE (2025-03-22)
Northern Tier Sports ReportSAYRE — It was close for two innings but NEB used a 9-run third to break away from Sayre for the 22-3 win in four innings during NTL softball action Saturday.
It was 3-2 NEB after one, and that score head until the top of the second when the Panthers rolled off nine runs. They added 10 more in the fourth to get the mercy rule win.
Makenna Callear (4-for-5) had a double with 2-RBI, and three runs scored to lead NEB, as Kelsea Moore (3-for-3) had a home run, a double, 6-RBI, and four runs scored.
Hannah Berger (3-for-4) rocked a triple with 3-RBI, and four runs scored, as Orissa Gardner (3-for-4) had a double with 4-RBI, and a run scored.
Kiarra DeLancey scored three times, with an RBI, as Zaelea Lane crossed home twice, and drove in two runs.
Isabella Kapr scored twice, with Kristina Larnard (1-for-4), and Abby Keeney (1-for-1) both scoring once. Toni Herb added an RBI.
Moore struck out six in the win, while allowing two walks, three hits, and three runs, one of which was earned.
In the top of the first NEB rallied with two outs as DeLancey reached on an error. She scored on a Berger single, followed by a walk to Moore. Both of them were plated on an error off the bat of Gardner.
In the top of the third Berger led off with a triple, then scored on a Moore home run. Gardner would single, followed by Kapr drawing a walk two batters later.
Lane scored Mackenzie Clark, and Kapr off a fielder’s choice for a 6-2 lead. Callear then singled in Kapr to make it 7-2.
After an out DeLancey and Berger drew back to back walks, which scored Lane. Moore then hit a bases clearing double for an 11-2 score.
Gardner then drove in Moore to make it 12-2 after three.
In the fourth Kapr reached on an error, then scored on a Lane fielder’s choice. Callear then brought Lane in on a double for a 14-3 lead.
Callear would score on an Herb ground out, followed by DeLancey, and Berger both reaching on errors.
A Moore single brought in DeLancey, followed by Gardner, Berger, and Moore all scoring off a Gardner hit.
Larnard, Keeney, and Callear all singled to load the bases. An error off the bat of Herb Brough in Larnard, followed by DeLancey driving in Keeney.
Callear scored the final run off a Berger hit.
NEB (2-1) will host Canton on Tuesday.
