NTL SOFTBALL: TOWANDA DROPS HEARTBREAKER TO NP-LIBERTY (2025-03-26)
Northern Tier Sports ReportWYSOX — Towanda softball lost a heartbreaker to NP-Liberty, 6-3 in nine innings, during NTL action Tuesday.
After falling down 3-0 in the first the Knights chipped away, scoring two in the third, then one more in the fifth to knot the game up.
In the bottom of the eighth they got a runner to third with no outs, but couldn’t get her home.
Tae-Lynn Brabant (2-for-3) had a double, while also going the distance in the circle. She struck out four with two walks, six hits, and six runs, three of which were earned.
Payton Perry (1-for-3) scored twice, as Brooklyn Evans (1-for-3) had 2-RBI. Leila Cobb (1-for-4) also had a hit, as Layla Miller crossed home.
Addy Smith (3-for-4) had a double with two runs scored to lead NPL, while Elyna Booth struck out 15 in nine innings of action.
In the third Evans would hit a 2-run single to score Miller, and Perry to make it 3-2. In the fifth Perry would reach on a single, then score on a passed ball to knot the game up.
In the bottom of the eighth Brabant would lead off with a double, then take third on a passed ball. However, Booth struck out the next two batters, then finished off the inning with a ground out.
NPL scored three runs in the top of the ninth to get the win.
Towanda (1-2) will travel to Wellsboro on Thursday.
