NTL WRESTLING: TOWANDA'S HIGLEY, ROBINSON HEADLINE BRADFORD COUNTY WRESTLING ALL-STARS (2025-03-27)

Northern Tier Sports Report
Another year of Bradford County wrestling has gone by. This was a year that saw Towanda dominate in rarely seen fashion, it saw North Section wrestlers perform well in the postseason, and it saw Athens take on a new adventure in Class 3A for the first time in 30 years.

Two Towanda wrestlers stood above the rest by the end of the season, Mason Higley (48-2) and Sawyer Robinson (44-5). Both became state medalists - Robinson fourth, Higley fifth - and both anchored the Black Knight dual team that claimed another NTL title.

That makes Higley, and Robinson the Co-Wrestlers of the Year for the Bradford County Wrestling All-Star team.

Fellow Black Knight, freshman Gage Evans (39-12), was a state qualifier this year, while also earning a North Section title, earning him the Newcomer of the Year Award.

It takes a village to coach a team, and the Towanda staff had many hands that made for lighter work. Led by Bill Sexton, the squad of Jeremy Sluyter, Cody Wheeler, Jake Stroud, Conrad Cole, Creighton Edsell, Mike Geurin, Dan Worthington, and Steven Yates are the Coaching Staff of the Year.

The Lightweight Wrestler of the Year is Athens’ Zaine Campbell (29-6). An injury kept Campbell out of the Northeast Regional tournament, but he did win the District IV, Class AAA title as part of a strong Wildcat contingent.

The Middleweight Wrestler of the Year is Towanda’s Riley Vanderpool (41-8). Vanderpool won North Section, and District IV titles, while missing a state medal by one point.

The Heavyweight Wrestler of the Year is Athens’ Connor Davidson (26-12). Davidson was a District IV, Class AAA runner-up this year, and Northeast Regional qualifier.
