NTL BASEBALL: WYALUSING FALLS TO ATHENS (2025-03-27)

WYALUSING — A tough second inning doomed Wyalusing in their 19-4 loss to Athens in four innings during NTL Large School baseball action Thursday.

The Wildcats led 1-0 after one, then tacked on nine runs in the second. They would go up 15-0 by the middle of the third, when the Rams rallied with four runs of their own in the bottom half.


Athens would end the game with a 5-run fourth.


Michael Phillips (2-for-2) had a double, and 2-RBI for Wyalusing as Hunter House (1-for-2), and Logan Norton (1-for-2) each had an RBI, with House also scoring. 


Isaac Shaffer, Marshall Huston, and Kenny Mapes all scored, as well, with Seth McCammon (1-for-2) getting a hit.


Eric Ostrowski started, and went 1 1/3-innings with one strikeout, four walks, five hits, and eight runs scored, seven of them earned.


Owen Brown tossed the next inning, with four walks, three hits, and six earned runs.


Huston pitched the final 1 2/3-innings, with three strikeouts, six hits, two walks, and five runs, one of which was earned.


In the third Wyalusing used three straight 1-out walks to load the bases for House, who singled in Shaffer. 


Norton followed by singling in Huston, with Phillips, two batters later, doubling in Mapes, and House for Wyalusing’s four runs.


Wyalusing (1-5) will host Wellsboro on Tuesday with a 4:30 p.m. start.
