NTL SOFTBALL: WYALUSING SOFTBALL COMES UP SHORT AGAINST ATHENS (2205-03-27)

WYALUSING — Two rough innings hurt Wyalusing in their 18-4 loss to Athens during NTL Large School softball action Thursday.

The Wildcats used nine runs in the second, and seven in the fifth to get the win in five innings. The Rams scored three in the second, and added one more in the fourth.


Treanna Nickeson (2-for-2) had an RBI, a runs scored, and three steals for Wyalusing, as Kylie Pickett (2-for-3) had a double. Her courtesy runner, Raelea Harvey, scored.


Josie Ferris (1-for-2) had 2-RBI, while Addisyn Bly (1-for-3) also had a hit. Emily Johns, and Callie Warner each crossed home, as Kirra Millard knocked in a run.


Addison Fluck started, and went 1 1/3-innings with one strikeout, three walks, and five hits, as Pickett went the final 3 2/3-innings with six strikeouts, four walks, and 10 hits.


Gretchen Hiley struck out 10 to lead Athens as they pounded out 16 hits on the afternoon.


The Rams found themselves down 11-0 in the bottom of the second but Pickett led things off with a hit. After back to back errors Wyalusing found themselves with the bases loaded for Ferris, who singled in Harvey, and Johns for an 11-2 score.


Bly singled to keep the inning going, then Nickeson singled in Warner for their third run.


In the fourth Nickeson led off with a hit, and scored on a Millard ground out for Wyalusing’s final run.


Wyalusing (0-4) will host Blue Ridge on Saturday with a 1 p.m. start.
