NTL SOFTBALL: NEB POWERS THEIR WAY PAST SAYRE (2025-03-27)
Northern Tier Sports ReportROME — NEB defeated Sayre for the second time in five days, beating the Redskins 11-1 in five innings during NTL softball action Thursday.
The Panthers jumped out with three runs in the first, then tacked on two more in the second for a 5-0 lead.
NEB kept adding, scoring tow more in the third, then finishing Sayre off with four runs in the fourth.
Hannah Berger (3-for-3) scored three times with an RBI, as Kiarra DeLancey (2-for-3) had a triple with two runs scored.
Orissa Gardner (2-for-3) knocked in two runs while crossing home once, Kelsea Moore (1-for-3) scored two runs, with an RBI, and Toni Herb (1-for-3) scored while also driving in a run.
Kristina Larnard (1-for-2), and Isabella Kapr (1-for-2) both scored, as Makenna Callear had an RBI.
Callear got the win, going five innings with seven strikeouts, three hits, and one run.
In the bottom of the first DeLancey hit a 1-out single, followed by Moore reaching on an error. That set up Berger’s run scoring single for a 1-0 lead.
Moore and Berger then scored on the same wild pitch for the 3-0 lead.
In the second Larnard led off with a hit, then scored two batters later on a Callear ground out. Kapr later scored on an error off the bat of DeLancey for a 5-0 lead.
After Sayre got one in the third Berger led off the bottom half with a single. After an out Herb reached on an error, which scored Berger.
Herb later scored on an error for a 7-1 lead.
NEB would go with two in the fourth, beginning with DeLancey’s triple. She scored on a Moore single, while Berger kept the rally going behind a single of her own.
A Gardner hit would drive in Moore, and Berger for a 10-1 lead. Gardner later scored on a passed ball to make it 11-1.
NEB (4-1) will host Susquehanna on Monday with a 4:30 p.m. start.
