NTL BASEBALL: TROY UNDONE BY LATE NPM RALLY (2025-03-27)
Northern Tier Sports ReportEAST TROY — Troy fell 6-4 to NP-Mansfield in NTL baseball action Thursday.
A 4-run sixth inning by the Tigers was the difference as they took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first. Troy got those runs back in the bottom half of the inning.
It stayed tied until the fifth when the Trojans pushed two more across for a 4-2 lead. However, in the top of the sixth NP-Mansfield scored four to go back up by two.
Troy threatened in the sixth, and seventh innings, but couldn’t get anybody home.
Joseph Frye (2-for-3), and Brendan Gilliland (2-for-4) each had home runs, with Gilliland scoring twice.
Reed Palmer (1-for-3) also had a hit, as Mason Smith (2-for-4) crossed home.
After NPM went up 2-0 in the first Frye, and Gilliland responded with back to back home runs in the bottom half.
In the fifth Smith had a 1-out hit, then later scored. Gilliland would reach on an error with two outs, then scored on a Palmer hit for their 2-run lead.
In the sixth, though, NPM would get a home run by Eason Pequignot as part of their four run rally.
Troy (2-2) is at Towanda on Tuesday with a 4:30 p.m. start.
