NTL SOFTBALL: NP-LIBERTY RALLIES LATE PAST TROY (2025-03-27)
Northern Tier Sports ReportEAST TROY — It was a heartbreaker for Troy softball, as they led the defending NTL Large School champions, NP-Liberty, 2-1 going into the seventh when the Mounties rallied for two runs to take the game, 3-2, on Thursday.
It was scoreless until the bottom of the fourth when Troy pushed a run across, then added another in the fifth.
NPL got one back in the sixth, then tacked on two more in the seventh for the 1-run win.
Lauren Ridall (3-for-3) had a double with a run scored, as Olivia Champluvier (1-for-3) also crossed home.
Madi Palmer (1-for-3), and Erinn Knapp each had an RBI, with Kali Ayres (1-for-4) getting a hit.
Knapp went 6 2/3-innings in the loss, striking out eight with one walk, four hits, and three earned runs. Champluvier got the final out.
Elyna Booth struck out 10 in the win, while allowing six hits, three walks, and two earned runs.
In the fourth Champluvier led off with a hit, then scored on a 2-out Palmer single for the 1-0 lead.
An inning later Ridall lead off with a single, then scored on a Knapp sacrifice fly to go up 2-0.
A Haley Litzelman RBI single put the Mounties on the scoreboard in the sixth.
In the seventh NPL scored both runs with two outs, as a Ava Giles hit brought in Addilyn Lehman, then an Madison Smith hit scored Elaina Shaw.
Troy would get two runners on with one out in the bottom half of the inning, but Booth got the final two outs to take the win.
Troy (2-2) will travel to Towanda on Tuesday.
