NTL GIRLS' BASKETBALL: TROY'S STERLING HEADLINES BC GIRLS' HOOPS ALL-STARS (2025-03-28)

Northern Tier Sports Report
Another exciting year for Bradford County girls’ basketball teams, with six of the seven squads all making district play, while Troy and NEB repeated as NTL divisional champions.

The Trojans repeated as both Large School champs, and NTL Showcase winners, and leading the way was senior Kailyn Sterling. Sterling averaged 15.4 PPG, 6.9 RPG, 3.1 SPG, and 2.7 APG as a force in the paint, and a pest defensively, earning her the Bradford County Girls’ Basketball All-Stars Player of the Year Honors.

There are Co-Offensive Players of the Year between Canton’s Kendall Kitchen, and NEB’s Leah Beebe. Kitchen put up 14.6 PPG, and hit 67 3-pointers on the season to lead the Warriors, while also sharing ball handling duties with teammate Cailyn VanNoy. Beebe averaged 15 PPG, and hit over 50 3-pointers while also sharing ball-handling duties with teammate Lillie Maynard. Both were also tenacious defenders.

Speaking of tenacious defenders, Athens’ Addy Wheeler was the most prolific thief in the league at 6.2 SPG, and could shut down everybody from 3-point specialists to post players, making her the Defensive Player of the Year. She also had averages of 13.8 PPG, 7.5 RPG, and 4 APG.

Troy’s Kyah Renzo led a talented group of newcomers from across the County. She had averages of 4 PPG, and 2.3 RPG off the bench for the Trojans, earning her the Newcomer of the Year Award.

There were plenty of strong coaching performances this season, with any number of coaches from the county being considered for Coach of the Year. Two stand out, though, in Canton’s Ryan VanNoy, and Towanda’s Rob Gentile. VanNoy led Canton to their best season since 2002, while Gentile’s team went from a 3-7 start to state qualifiers, giving them the Co-Coaches of the Year honors.
