WYALUSING — Wyalusing used a 10-run fourth inning to pick up a 15-5 in six innings over Blue Ridge during NTL softball action Saturday.

The Rams took a 2-0 lead after the second, but the Raiders pushed four across in the third to take the lead. They would go up 5-2 after the top of the fourth, but the Rams responded with their big inning, going o 12-5.

They ended the game with three runs in the bottom of the sixth.

“It feels good,” Wyalusing coach Brett Jayne said about his team picking up their first win after a tough start to the season. “The girls have played some games that, I don’t know what happened to the, but they started good, and they fizzled right off. It felt good to finally get the win.”

Everybody on the team had a hand in the victory as 10 different players recorded an offensive stat, while three different pitchers were in the circle.

“Callee Warner finished the game on the mound, and she’s a freshman,” Jayne said. “That’s her first varsity throwing, I thought she did great. And Kirra Millard behind the plate had a fantastic game. She did a good job blocking, and good job hitting.”

Millard (3-for-4) scored, and had two RBIs, while her courtesy runner, Raelea Harvey, scored twice. Warner pitched the final two innings, striking out three with one walk, one hit, and no runs, while at the plate she went 1-for-3 with two runs scored.

Kylie Pickett got the win in the circle, tossing the middle two innings with four walks, two strikeouts, two hits, and five runs. She was 2-for-5 at the plate with a run scored, and an RBI.

Addison Fluck got the start, going two innings with two strikeouts, three walks, no hits, and no runs.

Addisyn Bly (2-for-3) had a double, two runs scored, and 3-RBI, as Kenda Millard (1-for-1) scored twice, with 2-RBI. Marci Gowin (1-for-1) also had a hit.

Treanna Nickeson, Rachel Wilson, Kyla Carpenter, Maddison Adams, and Emily Johns all scored, with Wilson, and Johns each driving in a run.

In the second Wilson led off with a walk, followed by Millard getting a hit. Walks to Fluck, and Johns scored Wilson, while Harvey, running for Millard, scored when Bly was hit by a pitch.

After Blue Ridge took a 3-run lead Millard led off the fourth with a walk. Bly then singled, followed by Millard scoring off an error.

Pickett then drove in Bly with a hit to make it 5-4.

Wyalusing then went on to score seven runs with two outs as Kirra Millard drove in Adams, followed by Warner reaching on an error. Harvey, running for Millard, would score on a passed ball for a 6-5 lead.

Carpenter would draw a walk, followed by Johns, and Kenda Millard both getting hit by a pitch, which scored Warner. Bly then hit a 2-run double, who later scored on a walk.

Nickeson would reach on a sacrifice, and later scored on an error off the bat of Pickett to make it 12-5.

After being held scoreless in the fifth Pickett led off the sixth with a hit. Grace Burridge drew a walk, followed by Kirra Millard reaching on an error. That was followed by a walk to Wanrer, with both Millard and Warner later scoring on a hit by Kenda Millard to end the game.

Wyalusing (1-4) will host Wellsboro on Tuesday in their final divisional match-up in the first round of league games before welcoming NEB on Thursday.

“Hopefully we go back to hitting,” said Jayne. “I expected them to hit a little better than they did, but this pitching is tough when it’s slow like that. I’m hoping with the hitting, stay with the tough defense, and hoping the pitching can hold up.”
