ON TAP TODAY: PLENTY OF ACTION WITH TRACK & FIELD, AND BASEBALL, AND SOFTBALL (2025-04-01)
Northern Tier Sports ReportThings ramp up today with two tri-meets on either side of the county along with plenty of action on the baseball and softball diamonds.
TRACK & FIELD
Towanda, NP-Mansfield, at Wyalusing, 4 p.m.: A big tri-meet as the Rams welcome Towanda, and NP-Mansfield. The Towanda girls are coming off a sweep in a tri-meet last week.
NEB, Sayre, at Troy, 4 p.m.: The home opener for Troy as they battle against an NEB boys’ team that swept Towanda, and Canton last week.
SOFTBALL
Canton (1-3) at Williamson (3-0), 4:30 p.m.: The battle of the Warriors, as Williamson sits on top of the District IV, Class AA standings. Canton is coming off their first win of the season, beating Bucktail.
Troy (2-2) at Towanda (3-2), 4:30 p.m.: A big divisional game with two teams that have a pair of big wins, and tough losses. Both teams have dropped heartbreakers to NPL, and Athens.
Wellsboro (1-4) at Wyalusing (1-4), 4:30 p.m.: The Rams righted the ship with a win over Blue Ridge, and will have another good chance at a win as they welcome the Hornets. Wellsboro recently beat Sayre for their first win of the season.
BASEBALL
Canton (1-1) at Williamson (1-1), 4:30 p.m.: Both teams come in with even records as the Warriors have a loss to Northern Potter, and a win over Sayre.
Troy (2-2) at Towanda (2-2), 4:30 p.m.: An up and down start for both squads, with Towanda coming off a big win over Elk Lake, while Troy recently fell to NP-Mansfield.
Wellsboro (1-5) at Wyalusing (1-5), 4:30 p.m.: The Hornets’ one win is over Towanda, while the Rams are looking for their first league win.
BOYS’ TENNIS
Towanda (2-1) at Wellsboro (4-3), 4 p.m.: The Knights look to knock-off the defending league champions, who are 3-0 in NTL matches this year.
