NTL BOYS' TENNIS: TOWANDA DROPS MATCH AT WELLSBORO (2025-04-01)
Northern Tier Sports ReportWELLSBORO — Towanda boys’ tennis dropped a 4-1 league match to Wellsboro during NTL action Tuesday.
Bayley Poll was the lone singles winner for the Knights, pulling out a 4-6, 6-2, 7-6 (7-3) win over Wellsboro’s Luke Rothermel at first singles.
At second singles Towanda’s Rian Hennessy won his first set 6-2, but then lost his next two, 6-2, 6-0 to Wellsboro’s Lucas Cueno.
At third singles Towanda’s Matrix McCarter fell 6-0, 6-1 to Mason Brill, and at fourth singles Towanda’s Jameson Harkness fell 6-0, 6-0 to RJ Doughtie.
The Hornets would take two of the three doubles matches as Towanda’s duo of Hennessy, and McCarter won 6-3 over Wellsboro’s Braeden Abernathy, and Tavi Wyman at second doubles.
Towanda’s team of Poll, and Harkness lost 6-2 to Rothermel, and Cuneo at first doubles, while at third doubles Towanda’s duo of Ethan Lane, and Dominic Johnson fell 6-0 to Wellsboro’s Liam Elkin, and Fen Moyer at third doubles.
Towanda travels to Central Columbia on Thursday with a 4 p.m. start.
