NTL SOFTBALL: WYALUSING USES BIG SECOND INNING TO DOWN WELLSBORO (2025-04-01)
Northern Tier Sports ReportWYALUSING — Wyalusing took the lead with a 4-run second inning, and made it stick as they picked up a 6-4 win over Wellsboro in NTL softball action Tuesday.
The Hornets jumped out to a 3-1 lead after one, but the Rams rallied for a 5-3 lead after two. Wellsboro cut it to 5-4 with a run in the third, the Rams got it back in the fourth, and the two teams were even for the final three innings.
Addisyn Bly (2-for-4) had a triple with two runs scored, and an RBI, as Treanna Nickeson (2-for-3) had a double, with a run scored, and an RBI.
Addison Fluck (2-for-3) had a multi-hit game, as Rachel Wilson (1-for-3) drove in a run. Kyla Carpenter (1-for-2), Josie Ferris, and Callie Warner all scored.
Fluck got the win, striking out 10 with four walks, four hits, and four runs scored.
After falling down 3-0 midway through the first Wyalusing got on the scoreboard as Nickeson reached on a hit, then got driven in by Wilson to make it 3-1.
Then came the big Wyalusing inning, started on a Fluck hit. Then Ferris, Warner, and Carpenter drew three straight walks. Ferris, and Warner scored on passed balls, while Carpenter reached home on Bly’s triple. Bly later scored on a passed ball for the 5-3 lead.
Wyalusing’s final run came in the fourth as Bly reached on a single, then scored on Nickeson’s double.
Wyalusing (2-4) will host NEB on Thursday with a 4:30 p.m. start.
