NTL SOFTBALL: CANTON BATTLES WILLIAMSON TO A TOUGH LOSS (2025-04-01)

TIOGA JUNCTION — Canton battled a 1-loss Williamson team to a 13-8 loss in NTL softball action Tuesday.
Canton led 4-2 after two innings, but Williamson tacked on four in the third, and five in the fourth to go up 11-4. Canton rallied, with one in the fifth, and three in the top of the sixth to cut it to 11-8.
Williamson, though, secured the win with two runs in the bottom of the sixth, then held Canton scoreless in the seventh.
Jaylee Ward (2-for-3) had a home run, 4-RBI, and two runs scored for Canton, as Alyssa May (2-for-4) had a triple, and a run scored.
Trinity Acla (2-for-3), and Cyra Hugo (2-for-3) both scored twice, as Hugo added an RBI. Tara Gilbert (1-for-3) drove in two runs, while Charleigh Anderson (1-for-3) had a hit, and Neveah Vroman crossed home.
Gilbert started, and went all six innings, striking out five with six walks, 13 hits, and 13 runs, nine of which were earned.
Canton would push four across in the top of the second with two outs as Vroman led things off with a walk. Acla singled, then a Hugo hit drove in Vroman.
Ward would score Acla, followed by Gilbert driving both Hugo, and Ward for the 4-0 advantage.
After Williamson took the lead May hit a 1-out triple in the top of the fifth, eventually scoring on an error to cut it to 11-5.
In the sixth Acla, and Hugo both singled, setting up Ward’s 3-run home run to make it a 3-run game. May opened the seventh with a hit, but Williamson got a double play, and then a ground out to end the game.
Canton (1-3) travels to Towanda on Thursday.
