NTL BASEBALL: TROY TOO MUCH FOR WILLIAMSON (2025-04-03)
Northern Tier Sports ReportEAST TROY — Troy baseball used a big first inning to roll past Williamson, 11-0 in five innings, during NTL action Thursday.
The Trojans jumped out to an 8-0 first inning lead, then scored two more in the second. They tacked on an insurance run in the fourth for the 11-0 final.
Camden Allen (1-for-2), and Reed Palmer (1-for-2) both had home runs, with Allen adding 2-RBI, and Palmer scoring twice.
Lincoln Chimics (2-for-3) had a triple, with two runs scored, and 2-RBI, with Mason Smith (2-for-3) also getting a triple, with 2-RBI, and two runs scored.
Joseph Frye (1-for-3) drove in two runs, with Jack Burbage (1-for-2), Evan Woodward (1-for-2), Brendan Gilliland, and Trey Teribury all scoring. Burbage also had an RBI.
Allen got the start, and the win, going three innings with six strikeouts, two walks, and two hits, as Gilliland went an inning with two strikeouts, two walks, and one hit. Frank Harper went the final inning, with one strikeout, and one hit.
Smith opened the bottom of the first with a triple, followed by Frye driving him home with a ground out.
Gilliland then reached on an error, followed by Palmer drawing a walk. A Chimics triple would bring both in for a 3-0 lead.
Chimics would score on an Allen ground out to make it 4-0.
Teribury kept the inning going with a walk, then scored on a Burbage hit. Woodward kept the rally alive with a hit of his own, with scoring off a single from Smith for a 7-0 lead.
Frye then singled in Smith to make it 8-0 Troy after one.
Palmer and Allen hit solo shots in the second inning for the 10-0 advantage, then in the fourth Troy rallied with two as Chimics hit a single, and later scored on an error for the 11-0 final.
Troy (3-2) travels to Canton next Thursday.
