NTL SOFTBALL: TROY DOWNS WILLIAMSON IN BACK AND FORTH AFFAIR (2025-04-03)

Northern Tier Sports Report
EAST TROY — In a back and forth contest Troy gutted out a 7-6 win over Williamson during NTL softball action Thursday.

The Warriors led 4-0 midway through the third, but Troy dropped a 5-spot on them in the bottom half to take a 1-run lead.

Williamson retook the lead with two runs to start the fourth, but Troy took the lead for good with two runs in the bottom half of the inning.

Erinn Knapp came on in relief to get the win, going 3 2/3-innings with no hits, one walk, and five strikeouts. Olivia Champluvier got the start, going 3 1/3-innings with five strikeouts, one walk, three hits, and six runs, three of which were earned.

Lauren Reed (2-for-2) scored twice for Troy as Knapp (1-for-3) had 2-RBI, with a run scored. Lauren Ridall (1-for-3) scored twice, as Kali Ayres (1-for-4) scored, and drove in a run.

Marlee Stanton (1-for-3) scored, as Champluvier had 2-RBI, and Amber James drove in one run.

Williamson pushed one across late in the first inning, then Kenna Thomas hit a 3-run home run for the 4-0 lead in the third.

In the bottom half Reed led things off with a walk for the Trojans, followed by Ridall hitting a single. Ayres then drove in Reed to get Troy on the scoreboard, followed by Knapp bringing in Ridall to make it 4-2.

Champluvier brought in Ayres with a ground out, then Stanton tied the game up as she hit a single to bring in Knapp.

A fielder’s choice off a James bunt brought in Stanton to put Troy up 5-4.

The Warriors got two back in the top of the fourth, but in the bottom half Reed got things going again with a hit.

Ridall kept things going with a walk, then, two batters later, Reed scored on an error off the bat of Knapp to tie the game up 6-6.

Champluvier then scored Ridall on a sacrifice fly for the 1-run lead.

Knapp then shutdown Williamson retiring nine of the next 10 batters, with the only one to reach base was Thomas on an intentional walk.

Troy (3-2) will travel to Canton next Thursday.
