NTL TRACK & FIELD: CANTON'S HALBFOERSTER, KITCHEN BREAK SCHOOL RECORDS (2025-04-17)
Northern Tier Sports ReportMT. CARMEL — Canton track and field saw two records break at the Mt. Carmel Invitational on Thursday.
For the boys Lawrence Halbfoerster broke a 53-year old 1600 meter record when he took second in 4:32.9. Tom Leonard set the old record of 4:33 back in 1972 - though the record was matched in 2002 by Ryan Hughes with a time of 4:33.05.
The Canton 4x800 (9:30.74) also took seventh.
On the girls’ side Kendall Kitchen broke her own school record in the pole vault, taking first at 11-feet. She was also third in the 100 at 13.13.
Alexis McRoberts was fifth in the discus at 113-feet, 8-inches, and sixth in the shot put at 33-feet, 4-inches.
Danah Wesneski took seventh in the 300 hurdles in 51.97.
