NTL BASEBALL: CANTON TOPS SULLIVAN COUNTY TO BREAK 6-GAME LOSING STREAK (2025-04-17)
Northern Tier Sports ReportLAPORTE — Canton baseball broke their 6-game losing streak with a 12-2 win over Sullivan County in five innings during non-league action Thursday.
The Warriors took a 1-0 lead in the first, then added four more in the third. They broke the game open with five in the fourth to go up 10-0.
Both teams scored two in the fifth for the 12-2 final.
Bailey Gardner (2-for-3) had a home run, three runs scored, and 4-RBI for Canton as Reed Taylor (2-for-3) had a double with 2-RBI.
Zack Colton (2-for-3) scored twice, as Michael Beers (1-for-2) had a double, with a run scored, and an RBI.
Carson Castle (1-for-1) crossed home three times with Ben Fitch and Aaden Dowling each scoring, and driving in a run. Isaiah Colton also crossed home.
Beers got the start, going two innings for the win. He struck out five with one walk, three hits, and no runs scored.
Taylor tossed the next two innings with one strikeout, one hit, and no runs.
Colton finished out the game with one strikeout, one hit, and two unearned runs.
The Warriors got on the scoreboard in the first when Gardner drew a walk, then scored on a Beers double.
In the third Castle opened things up with a hit, followed by Fitch drawing a walk. Gardner would single in Castle, then later score on an error for a 3-0 lead.
Beers would draw a walk, then Colton singled, setting up Beers scoring on a dropped third strike to Dowling.
Taylor later singled in Colton for the 5-0 lead.
In the fourth Castle drew a walk, followed by Fitch reaching on an error, which set up Gardner’s 3-run home run for an 8-0 lead.
Beers and Colton both got beaned, with Colton later scoring on an error off the bat of Dowling.
A Taylor double drove in Dowling for the 10-0 advantage.
In the fifth Colton drew a lead-off walk, followed by Castle getting hit by a pitch.
Colton later scored on a Fitch ground out, then Castle scored on a 2-out Beers error for their final run.
In the bottom half Sullivan got a triple to get things going, but Zack Colton induced back to back fly outs to end the game.
Canton (2-6) host Millville on Saturday with a 10 a.m. start.
