NTL BASEBALL: ROUGH START DOOMS CANTON AGAINST MILLVILLE (April 19, 2025)

CANTON — Canton got down early and never recovered as they fell to Millville, 9-3, in non-league baseball action Saturday.

The Quakers jumped out to a 5-0 first inning lead, with the Warriors cutting it to 5-2 in the third. Millville added two more runs in the both the fifth and sixth, while Canton pushed one across in the bottom of the sixth for the 9-3 final.


Ben Fitch (2-for-3) had a multi-hit game for the Warriors as Michael Bears (1-for-3) had a double with a run scored.


Zach Colton (1-for-3) had an RBI as Carson Castle (1-for-3), and Bailey Gardner both scored.


Beers got the start but didn’t record an out, allowing two walks, and two earned runs.


Reed Taylor went an inning, allowing no walks, two hits, and three runs, one of which was earned.


Colton tossed 4 2/3-innings with two strikeouts, five hits, two walks, and four earned runs.


Rylan Wesneski tossed the final 1 1/3-innings with two strikeouts.


The Warriors scored two in the bottom of the third as Castle reached on a 1-out single. After another out Gardner reached on a dropped third strike.


That set up Castle and Gardner scoring on an error off the bat of Beers for a 3-run game.


In the bottom of the sixth Beers led off with a double, then scored on a Colton hit.


Canton (2-7) travels to Sayre on Tuesday.
