NTL SOFTBALL: CANTON POUNDS THEIR WAY PAST MILLVILLE (2025-04-19)
Northern Tier Sports ReportCANTON — Canton’s Neaveh Vroman hit a grand slam as the Warriors rolled past Millville, 17-2 in three innings, to break their five game losing streak in non-league softball action Saturday.
Vroman (2-for-3) had 5-RBI, with two runs scored, as Cyra Hugo (2-for-2) had two doubles, 2-RBI, and two runs scored.
Addi Pepper (2-for-3) had a triple, 3-RBI, and two runs scored, with Jaylee Ward (2-for-2) scoring three times, with an RBI.
Trinity (1-for-2) and Tiffany Acla (1-for-3) both had a hit with a run scored, and an RBI. Tiffany also had a double.
Audrey Bastion (1-for-2) scored twice, and drove in a run, with Alyssa May (1-for-2) scoring twice.
Tara Gilbert had a hit, and drove in a run, while also getting the win in the circle, going two innings with three strikeouts, one walk, three hits, and two earned runs. Ward tossed the final inning.
After falling down 2-0 Canton rallied with nine runs in the bottom of the first.
Ward led off with a double, then scored on an error off the bat of Pepper.
May drew a walk, with Vroman driving in Pepper with a ground out two batters later.
Tiffany Acla kept the rally going with a double, which scored May, followed by Trinity driving in Tiffany with a hit. Hugo then doubled in Trinity for a 5-2 lead.
A Bastion hit allowed Hugo to score, followed by Ward reaching on a hit by pitch. Pepper then tripled Bastion and Ward for an 8-2 advantage.
Pepper would steal home to make it 9-2 after one.
The Warriors added eight more in the bottom half of the second with Vroman leading things off with a single.
Millville would follow by getting back to back outs, but the Warriors kept at it as Hugo doubled in Vroman.
Bastion would reach on an error, followed by Ward plating Hugo with a hit.
Pepper would single to keep the inning going as Bastion scored on an error off the bat of May. Gilbert then drew a bases loaded walk to bring in Ward.
That set up Vroman’s grand slam for the 17-2 final.
Canton (2-8) will look to keep the momentum going as they head to Wellsboro on Monday.
