NTL TRACK & FIELD: CANTON BOYS DOWN WILLIAMSON (2025-04-22)
Northern Tier Sports ReportCANTON — The Canton boys edged Williamson in NTL track and field dual meet action Tuesday. Canton won 78-70, while on the girls’ side Williamson won 77-59.
The Canton boys dominated the distance (22-5), hurdles (14-3), relays (10-50, and throws (25-2) to take the win.
For the boys their 4x800 won in 11:35 followed by John Whitehead (18.9) and Thomas Guindon (19.1) going 1-2 in the 110 hurdles. Chase Petrowski (11.7) was second in the 100 dash.
The Canton 4x100 won in 48.9 as Lawrence Halbfoerster (56.8) and Joshua Hess (57.0) went 2-3 in the 400.
Whitehead (47.6) won the 300 hurdles followed by Guindon (48.8) in third. Lawrence Halbfoerster (2:16.90, Manuel Halbfoerster (2:21.4), and Simon Wile (2:22) swept the 800.
Nehemiah Wolcott (12:26.3) won the 3200 as Wyatt Hilton (115-feet, 4-inches), Talin Williams (92-feet, 9-inches), and Aiden Petrowski (90-feet, 5-inches) swept the discus.
Hilton (40-feet, 5-inches), and Petrowski (33-feet, 11-inches) went 1-2 in the shot put, with Quincy Wesneski (118-feet, 11-inches), and Hilton (116-feet, 6-inches) going 1-2 in the javelin.
On the girls’ side the two teams tied in the sprints (11-11), hurdles (9-9), and relays (5-5), with Canton getting the edge in throws (15-12). Williamson had the edge in jumps (20-12) and distance (18-5).
Alexis McRoberts (83-feet) won the javelin with Hayley Larsen (4-feet, 6-inches) and Stella Rockwell (14-feet, 2 1/4-inches) both taking third in the high jump and long jump.
Kendall Kitchen (9-feet, 6-inches) won the pole vault, with Rockwell (30-feet, 7-inches) winning the triple jump.
McRoberts won the discus (114-feet, 3-inches) and shot put (34-feet, 4-inches). In the 800 Veronica West (3:09.2) and Silva Koernig (3:32.1) went 2-3.
Kitchen (27.3) won the 200 with teammate Layla Frisbie (30.0) in third, with Danah Wesneski (51.0) and Savannah Boyles (55.6) going 1-2 in the 300 hurdles. Frisbie (1:09.9) was second in the 400.
Canton’s 4x100 won in 54.5 as Koernig (7:15.8) was third in the 1600.
Kitchen (13.1) and Larsen (13.7) went 2-3 in the 100, with Boyles (20.0) taking third in the 100 hurdles.
Canton will be at the Lasagna Invitational this Friday.
