NTL SOFTBALL: TOWANDA EDGES WYALUSING IN PITCHER'S DUEL (2025-04-24)
Northern Tier Sports ReportWYALUSING — Towanda scraped out a 2-0 pitcher’s duel win over Wyalusing in NTL softball action Thursday.
They got a run in the top of the first, then added an insurance run in the sixth.
“It feels good to have another win under our belt and keep chipping away at some wins to qualify for districts,” said Towanda coach Caitlyn Crawford. “Tae did well for us on the mound, and threw a solid game. We need to keep our momentum going forward into next week, and keep playing strong.”
Payton Perry (2-for-4) scored a run as Brooklyn Evans (1-for-4) had a double with an RBI. Caedence Wells (1-for-2) also had an RBI with Brynsen Vargason (1-for-3), and Layla Miller (1-for-3) both getting hits.
Leila Cobb scored their other run.
Tae-Lynn Brabant struck out 11 in the circle, allowing just five hits and no walks in the shutout.
Addisyn Bly (1-for-4) had a double for Wyalusing as Kylie Pickett (1-for-3) and Kirra Millard (1-for-3) also had hits.
Addison Fluck struck out five in the loss, while allowing two walks, five hits, and two runs.
Perry opened up the game with a single, then scored on a 1-out double from Evans.
After threatening in the fifth Vargason hit a 1-out single in the sixth. The Rams got her out at second on a fielder’s choice to Cobb, but Wells would bring Cobb around to score for the 2-0 final.
Towanda (6-4) is slated to host Notre Dame on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. while Wyalusing (6-6) travels to Troy on Tuesday.
