NTL BASEBALL: TOWANDA ROLLS PAST NOTRE DAME FOR THIRD WIN A ROW (2025-04-26)
Northern Tier Sports ReportWYSOX — Towanda used a pair of big innings to roll past Notre Dame, 11-1 in six innings, during non-league baseball action Saturday.
The Knights scored four in the first, one in the third, and then ended the game with a 6-run sixth innings.
Jack Tavani went the distance in the win, striking out three while allowing no walks, two hits, and one unearned run.
Dawson Butts (1-for-2) and Gianni Assante (1-for-2) both scored twice, and drove in a run, as Wil Shrawder (1-for-2) scored, and had an RBI.
Gage Evans (1-for-1), and Avery Butts each drove in a run, as Rylee Sluyter scored twice. Jack Wheaton, Avery Butts, Tavani, and Owen Lane all found home.
Notre Dame got their run in the top of the first to go up 1-0. The Knights answered in the bottom half, though, as Sluyter led off with a walk.
After an out Wheaton drew a walk, followed by Assante driving in Sluyter to make it 1-1.
Dawson Butts then singled in Wheaton for a 2-1 lead.
After a second out Assante and Dawon Butts would score to make it 4-1.
In the third Assante was hit by a pitch, then scored on a steal of home for the 4-run lead.
Then in the sixth Dawson Butts and Tavani reached on back to back errors. A Shrawder walk loaded the bases.
After an out Dawson Butts stole home with Lane drawing a walk. Tavani would make it 7-1 by scoring on a passed ball.
Shrawder and Lane then both scored on passed balls for a 9-1 lead. Avery Butts then drove in Sluyter with a fielder’s choice, followed by Evans singling in Avery Butts for the 10-run mercy rule win.
Towanda (7-5) will take it’s 3-game win streak to NP-Mansfield on Tuesday with a 4:30 p.m. start.
