NTL SOFTBALL: BERGER LEADS NEB PAST CANTON (2025-04-29)

Northern Tier Sports Report
CANTON — NEB softball blanked Canton, 12-0 in five innings, during NTL action Tuesday.

The Panthers opened the game with four runs in the first inning, then added five in the third, one in the fourth, and two more in the fifth.


Hannah Berger (3-for-3) had a home run, three runs scored, and 2-RBI to lead the Panthers as Ava Lambert (1-for-4) and Zaelea Lane (1-for-3) each had 2-RBI and a run scored.


Isabella Kapr (1-for-1) had a double with an RBI, and a run scored, as Toni Herb (1-for-4) had a double, and scored a run.


Abby Keeney scored and drove in a run, with Brianna Pelka (1-for-1) scoring, and getting an RBI.


Makenna Callear, Carlie Wheaton, and Kelsea Moore all scored for NEB.


Callear started, and tossed one inning with one strikeout, and hit. Moore went the final four innings with six strikeout, one walk, and two hits.


Jaylee Ward (2-for-3) had a multi-hit game to lead Canton as Charleigh Anderson (1-for-2) also had a hit.


Ward started, and went three innings with three strikeouts, three walks, seven hits, and 10 runs, as Tara Gilbert tossed the next two innings with one strikeout, two walks, one hit, and two runs.


In the first Callear opened the game by getting hit by a pitch. After an out Moore drew a walk to put two runners on.


Berger then singled in Callear for a 1-0 lead. 


Canton got a second out, but a Lambert hit scored Moore and Berger to make it 3-0. Kapr’s double made it 4-0 NEB after Lambert took home.


In the third Berger led off with a hit, followed by Herb reaching on an error. After an out Kapr would walk to load the bases.


That set up Lane’s 2-run single to make it 6-0. An error off the bat of Keeney made it 7-0 NEB as Kapr scored.


After a second out an error off the bat of Kiarra DeLancey brought home Lane and Keeney for a 9-0 ball game.


Berger opened up the fourth with a home run for a 10-0 lead.


In the fifth NEB went with two outs as Wheaton reached on an error. She scored on a Pelka single.


After a walk to Charity Coon an error off the bat of Herb would score Pelka for the 12-0 final.


NEB and Canton are both off until next week.
