NTL SOFTBALL: WYALUSING USES BIG FIRST INNING TO DOWN TROY (2025-04-29)

Northern Tier Sports Report
EAST TROY — Wyalusing softball got a big first inning, then held of Troy after that to take an 8-5 win over the Trojans in NTL action Tuesday.

“It felt great, a total team effort,” said Wyalusing coach Brett Jayne. “We capitalized on everything we could tonight. The bench was very supportive. Bly came through with great hitting, I was very proud of her, and also Rachel Wilson had a great night at the plate.”

The Rams jumped out to an 8-0 first inning lead as they batted around. Troy chipped away after that, scoring one in the second, one in the fourth, two in the sixth, and one in the seventh, but couldn’t quite get over the hill.

Addisyn Bly (2-for-4) had two runs scored, and 3-RBI for Wyalusing as Josie Ferris (1-for-3) had 2-RBI, with a run scored.

Kirra Millard (1-for-2) drove in a run, with Kyla Carpenter scoring, and getting an RBI. Addison Fluck drove in a run with Kylie Pickett, Wilson (2-for-3), Maddison Adams, and Raelea Harvey all scored, as well.

Fluck struck out four in the win, allowing five walks, six hits, and five runs scored.

Marlee Stanton (2-for-3) led Troy with 3-RBI, and a run scored, as Lauren Reed crossed home twice.

Haidyn Watson (1-for-2) had a double with an RBI, as Amber James (1-for-2), and Madi Palmer (1-for-4) both scored.

Kali Ayres (1-for-3) had a hit with Erinn Knapp driving in a run.

Olivia Champluvier started, going one-third of an inning to take the loss. She struck out one with two walks, two hits, and five runs.

Knapp went the next 6 2/3-innings with eight strikeouts, one walk, four hits, and three unearned runs.

Bly opened the game with a hit, followed by Pickett drawing a walk two batters later. Wilson then singled to load the bases.

Millard was hit by a pitch, which scored Bly to make it 1-0. Carpenter and Fluck then drew back to back walks to bring in Pickett and Wilson for a 3-0 lead.

Ferris would single in Adams, and Carpenter to make it 5-0 Rams.

Two batters later Bly would get a hit into the out field, with an error allowing her, and two base runners Harvey and Ferris to score for the 8-0 first inning lead.

In the second Reed would open the at bat with a walk, then scored on a Stanton fly out to make it 8-1.

In the fourth Reed led off with a walk, then later scored on another Stanton fly out to make it 8-2.

In the sixth James and Stanton led off with back to back hits. A Knapp sacrifice would score James, then Watson doubled in Stanton for an 8-4 ball game.

Palmer led off the seventh with a hit, then scored on a 2-out hit from Stanton to cut the deficit to three. Fluck, though, got the final out to get the win.

“My girls handled themselves great in victory, I’m very proud of them,” said Jayne.

Troy (7-5) travels to NP-Liberty on Thursday while Wyalusing (7-6) is at Athens.
