AOW: TOWANDA'S WHEATON AND PERRY, CANTON'S GARDNER PUT UP STRONG PERFORMANCES ON THE DIAMOND (2025-05-04)
Northern Tier Sports ReportThe weather appears to have turned for the better this past week as winter coats have been replaced by short sleeves, even if there were the occasional rain drops. Local athletic performances have heated up along with the weather, too.
On the boys’ side two area baseball players came close to getting the cycle. Canton’s Bailey Gardner went 4-for-4 with a double, a home run, 3-RBI, and two runs scored in a win over Muncy, while Towanda’s Jack Wheaton went 3-for-4 with a double, a triple, a home run, 3-RBI, and two runs scored in a win over NP-Mansfield. The duo are the Male Co-Athletes of the Week.
For the girls Towanda got two big wins this week as Payton Perry went 3-for-7 with 4-RBI, and two runs scored, earning her the Female Athlete of the Week honors.
