NTL SOFTBALL: JOHNSON'S HOMER LIFTS TOWANDA PAST WILLIAMSON (May 8, 2025)
Northern Tier Sports ReportELKLAND — Towanda scored two in the sixth to eke out a 4-2 win over Williamson during NTL softball action Thursday.
The Knights led 2-1 after one, with the Warriors tying it up at 2-2 in the fourth. A 2-run sixth by Towanda gave them the win.
Aleah Johnson (1-for-4) had a home run with 2-RBI as Brooklyn Evans (1-for-3) had a double with two runs scored.
Payton Perry (2-for-4) scored, with Brynsen Vargason (1-for-2), Leila Cobb (1-for-2), and Molly Roberts (1-for-3) all getting hits.
Tae-Lynn Brabant started, and went four innings for the no decision. She struck out seven with two walks, six hits, and two earned runs.
Johnson went the final three innings with seven strikeouts, one walk, and three hits, but no runs.
Perry led off the first with a hit, followed by Evans reaching two batters later. Perry then scored on a wild pitch for the 1-0 lead.
After a strikeout Vargason drew a walk to keep the rally going, with Evans scoring on a wild pitch for their second run.
In the sixth Evans led off with a double, then Johnson took the first offering to her over the center field fence to put the Knights up two.
Williamson threatened in the sixth, but three straight strikeouts from Johnson ended that inning. The Warriors went down in order in the seventh as Towanda secured the win.
