NTL SOFTBALL: WYALUSING USES BIG THIRD INNING TO ROLL PAST WELLSBORO (2025-05-10)

WELLSBORO — Wyalusing used a 12-run second inning to propel themselves past Wellsboro, 14-1 in five innings, on Saturday.

After taking a 1-0 lead in the second the Rams nearly batted through the order twice in the third to go up 13-0. 


Wellsboro got one across in the bottom half of the inning, with Wyalusing scoring their final run in the fifth.


Treanna Nickeson (1-for-2) had three runs scored with an RBI as Addisyn Bly (1-for-2) scored twice, and drove in a run.


Kirra Millard (1-for-2) had 2-RBI with her courtesy runner, Ellie Adams, crossing home twice.


Rachel Wilson (1-for-2) scored twice, and had an RBI, with Josie Ferris (1-for-3) driving in a run. Emily Johns scored twice while also getting an RBI, as Kylie Pickett, Kyla Carpenter, and Raelea Harvey all crossed home.


Addison Fluck got the win, going four innings to strikeout five with three hits, one walk, and one run. Callie Warner tossed the final inning, striking out two.


In the second Wilson reached on a walk, then later scored on a passed ball to go up 1-0.


In the third Johns led off by drawing a walk, followed by Bly getting a hit. Back to back walks to Nickeson and Millard brought in Johns for a 2-0 lead.


After a strikeout an error off the bat of Ferris would score Bly and Nickeson to make it a 4-0 ball game. 


A walk to Pickett reloaded the bases, followed by Adams scoring off a fielder’s choice. Pickett and Carpenter later scored with Pickett on a walk, and Carpenter on a passed ball.


Fluck courtesy runner Harvey would score on a wild pitch to make it 8-0.


Johns and Bly then drew back to back walks, while Nickeson was hit by a pitch to load the bases. That set up a Millard single that scored Johns and Bly for a 10-0 lead.


A Wilson hit would plate Nickeson to make it an 11-0 ball game. Adams, Millard’s courtesy runner, scored on an error, while Wilson found home off a Ferris hit for a 13-0 score.


In the fifth Nickeson singled, then scored on a fielder’s choice for the 14-1 final.


Wyalusing (9-8) has to win one of their final three games to punch their ticket to districts, beginning with Canton on Monday with a 4:30 p.m. start.
