AOW: TROY STANDOUTS WARBURTON, PALMER, AYRES ALL HAVE BIG WEEKS (2025-05-11)
Northern Tier Sports ReportIt was a wet and chilly week more reminiscent of April and March than May, but even if Mother Nature put a halt to some things, there were still plenty of big performances, especially at the NTL Championships.
Troy’s Ben Warburton showed at NTLs, winning three titles - 100, 200, long jump - while helping the 4x100 reach the podium. That sparked the Trojans to a team title for the second year in a row. On the baseball diamond Tory’s Reed Palmer helped the Trojans win back to back games Saturday afternoon, going 5-for-7 with a home run, three doubles, and 8-RBI. The two are the Co-Male Athletes of the Week.
On the girls’ side Troy’s Kali Ayres had a perfect week as her team went 2-0 on the softball diamond. She was 6-for-6 with four runs, 5-RBI, and a home run, earning the Female Athlete of the Week honors.
