Northern Tier Sports ReportDistrict IV Track and Field is here, along with the final week of the regular season for baseball and softball. Baseball playoffs could also start on Saturday for some area teams.
TRACK & FIELD
Thursday, May 15 & Saturday, May 17
District IV Championships at Williamsport: They start at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, and 9:30 a.m. on Saturday as the schedule as changed a little bit. All five area teams - Canton, Troy, Towanda, Wyalusing, and NEB - have a good shot at sending one or more athletes to states.
SOFTBALL
Monday, May 12
CV (7-8) at Towanda (9-5), 4:30 p.m.: CV needs to win more than they lose this week in order to make districts, while if the Knights finish this week strong they could end up with a home playoff game.
Canton (3-14) at Wyalusing (9-8), 4:30 p.m.: One more win for the Rams to send them to districts. If they can finish strong they could nab a home playoff game.
NEB (8-6) at NP-Liberty (11-3), 4:30 p.m.: Another tough one for NEB who are still leading Williamson for the Small School title. A win here would go a long ways towards wrapping that up.
Tuesday, May 13
Sayre (2-12) at Troy (10-5), 4:30 p.m.: Troy’s sitting pretty in third in the district standings, but they have three games in three days to end the season so they’ll be looking to keep the bats hot this week.
Wednesday, May 14
Troy (10-5) at CV (7-8), 4:30 p.m.: CV is always a tough match-up and will be playing for their playoff lives.
Towanda (9-5) at Sayre (2-12), 4:30 p.m.: A chance to pick up another win for Towanda as they look to go into the playoffs strong.
Athens (15-1) at Canton (3-14), 4:30 p.m.: The Wildcats will be looking to wrap up the NTL Large School title this week.
Wyalusing (9-8) at Montgomery (13-1-1), 4:30 p.m.: A good test for the Rams as the Red Raiders sport a 13-game win streak this season.
Wellsboro (5-10) at NEB (8-6), 4:30 p.m.: Senior Night for the Panthers as they welcome the Hornets, who have gone 2-3 in their last five.
Thursday, May 15
Towanda (9-5) at Troy (10-5), 4:30 p.m.: A big one for district seedings for the Knights. A win here could propel them up a few spots, but Troy may still have an outside shot for second place if they finish strong and Northwest stumbles.
Friday, May 16
Athens (15-1) at Towanda (9-5), 4:30 p.m.: Big back to back games for the Knights. They lost by two in their first meeting way back in March.

NP-Liberty (11-3) at Wyalusing (9-8), 4:30 p.m.: The Rams get their second shot at the defending NTL Large School champions. Wyalusing comes in on a 2-game win streak.
Benton (2-9) at NEB (8-6), 4:30 p.m.: A make-up from earlier in the season as NEB looks to shore up their third place spot in the district standings.
Saturday, September 17
NEB (8-6) at Sullivan County (11-4), 4:30 p.m.: A potential semi-final match-up in the Class A district bracket. The Griffins are 7-1 over their last eight games.

Tuesday, September 13
Troy (12-5) at Sullivan County (3-9), 4:30 p.m.: A make-up as the Trojans play the middle game of a 3-day back to back to back span.
Wyalusing (4-13) at Central Columbia (6-10), 4:30 p.m.: Both teams are eliminated from playoff contention as they make-up the canceled Blue Jay Tournament games.
