NTL SOFTBALL: TROY TOPS SAYRE FOR FOURTH STRAIGHT WIN (May 13, 2025)
Northern Tier Sports ReportEAST TROY — The only game to get in on a rain soaked day was Troy softball toppling Sayre, 6-1, in NTL softball action Tuesday.
The game was called in the sixth for Troy’s fourth straight win. They jumped out with a 1-0 lead in the first, then tacked on three more in the second.
Sayre got on the scoreboard with a run in the third, with Troy getting two more in the fourth for the 5-run win.
Haidyn Watson (1-for-1) scored a run, and drove one in, with Madi Palmer (1-for-3) also getting an RBI.
Lauren Ridall scored twice with Marlee Stanton (1-for-3), and Olivia Champluvier also crossing home. Kali Ayres (1-for-3) and Amber James (1-for-3) both had hits.
Erinn Knapp struck out 13 in the win, allowing six walks, one hit, and one unearned run.
In the first Ridall led off with a walk, then later scored on a steal.
In the second Stanton led off with a hit followed by Champluvier drawing a walk. Watson then singled in Stanton and Champluvier for a 3-0 lead.
Watson later scored on a wild pitch to make it 4-0 Trojans.
Troy would score with two outs in the fourth. Watson led off the inning with a walk, then got out as Ridall reached on a fielder’s choice.
Two batters later Ridall scored on an error off the bat of Knapp.
Knapp’s courtesy runner Sydney Bellows then scored on a Palmer hit for the 6-1 final.
Troy (11-5) travels to CV on Wednesday with a 4:30 p.m. start.
