NTL SOFTBALL: WYALUSING GUTS OUT WIN OVER NP-LIBERTY (2025-05-16)

Northern Tier Sports Report
WYALUSING — Wyalusing won their fifth straight game on Friday as they edged NP-Liberty 4-2 during NTL softball action.

"It was good to have Addisyn Bly back in the line-up tonight,” said coach Brett Jayne. “She had a good night at the plate with some excellent base running. Treanna Nickeson with some excellent base running and good defensive lay. Kirra Millard played another solid game behind the plate tonight. Josie Ferris made nice contact, putting the ball in play and making things happen. Addison Fluck pitched a nice game, only giving up the one walk was big. She’s really improved late in the season, and a big game tonight by Kyla Carpenter, going 2-for-3, and scoring a big insurance run in the bottom of the sixth. I’m very proud of the effort by all the girls. We played very good defense, and were pesky on offense tonight.”

The Rams jumped out with two runs in the bottom of the first, while NPL rallied with two runs in the top of the second.

The game stayed tied until the bottom of the fifth, when Wyalusing pushed one across. They added another in the sixth as they secured the win.

Bly (2-for-3) scored twice and had three stolen bases, as Carpenter (2-for-3) scored a run. Josie Ferris (1-for-3) had 2-RBI, with Treanna Nickeson also crossing home, and Kirra Millard getting an RBI.

Fluck struck out six with one walk, three hits, and two runs.

Bly opened the bottom of the first with a hit, followed by Nickeson getting a walk. Ferris then came up big, legging out a 2-out infield single that allowed Bly and Nickeson to score for the 2-0 lead.

After both teams came close to breaking through Wyalusing finally did in the bottom of the fifth. Bly reached on an error, then scored two batters later on a Kirra Millard sacrifice fly for the 3-2 lead.

In the bottom of the sixth Carpenter would single, then scored on an error for the 2-run lead.

“It was a very good played game on both sides,” Jayne said. “My team personally enjoys playing North Penn-Liberty, a nice bunch of girls.”

Wyalusing (12-8) will now and wait and see who they play in the district quarterfinals next week.
