NTL TRACK & FIELD: WYALUSING'S JOHNS MAKES STATES IN THE HIGH JUMP (2025-05-18)
BY CHRIS MANNINGNorthern Tier Sports ReportWILLIAMSPORT — Wyalusing’s Dylan Johns will be heading back to states in the high jump after tying for second at the District IV, Class AA boys’ Track and Field Championships Saturday.
The defending district champion was clean through 6-feet, 1-inch, but just couldn’t quite clear 6-feet, 3-inches.
“It feels great,” Johns said about going back to states. “I didn’t get exactly what I wanted, I want first place, but the thing that mattered most was going back to states.”
He came in at 5-feet, 7-inches, and cleared the first several heights with ease.
“I didn’t have my usual toe drag that I have in there, and that definitely helped me out a lot with my overall jump,” explained Johns. “I felt really good in the first few heights.”
Johns goes into the state meet seeded 16th.
“Definitely no toe scrape,” Johns said about what it’s going to take to get on the state podium. “Just getting my legs over the bar.”
Jonathan Earle (13-feet) was sixth in the pole vault, with Zibiah Walton (42-feet, 2-inches) eighth in the triple jump, as teammate Tyler Caplan (39-feet, 4-inches) came in 17th.
James Rogan (16.28) was seventh in the 110 hurdles, while running 43.08 to take 12th in the 300 hurdles.
Trennan Tewksbury (4:54.10) was 21st in the 1600, while Joshua Palfreyman (115-feet, 4-inches) came in 19th in the discus.
The 4x100 relay was 12th in 46.76.
For the girls Abby Trowbridge and Gabrielle Palfreyman both got on the district podium. Trowbridge (4-feet, 10-inches) was seventh in the high jump, while Palfreyman (34-feet, 5-inches) was seventh in the shot put.
The girls’ 4x100 relay was 13th in 53.48.
