NTL TRACK & FIELD: TOWANDA'S WOODRUFF CLAIMS DISTRICT TITLE IN THE JAVELIN (2025-05-18)

WILLIAMSPORT — On Saturday Towanda’s Brynn Woodruff saved her best throw for last, but she didn’t need, as she had locked up the District IV, Class AA girls’ javelin title at the Track and Field Championships.

Woodruff (136-feet, 1-inch) won gold by over 13 feet.

“It feels very good,” Woodruff said about being the district champion. “I felt like I could get this far, and I’m proud of myself for being able to reach the goal. It was very nerve racking, I was very scared of the outcome, but I try to let everything go.”

She came in as the second seed but the top seed struggled on the day, opening things up for Woodruff.

She was the leader after the flights with her third throw of 125-feet, 8-inches, then extended that to 128-feet, 1-inch with her first throw of the championship flight.

“That really set my mind down,” Woodruff explained about being the leader after the flights. “It calmed me down, and I performed better.”

Her final throw of over 136-feet left no doubt of who the best was that day.

Now she’ll be heading to the PIAA Championships this weekend, where she comes in as the top seed.
