AOW: TOWANDA'S FARRELL AND LARSON, CANTON'S KITCHEN, TROY'S PARKS POST BIG WEEKS (2025-05-18)

Northern Tier Sports Report
Quite a slew of performances this week. Area athletes showed bright at the District IV Track and Field Championships, while those on the baseball and softball diamond also had their moments.

On the boys’ side Towanda’s Varrius Farrell was a 2-time state qualifier, punching his ticket to Shippensburg in the shot put and discus, which is enough to earn him the Male Athlete of the Week honors.

On the girls’ side Canton’s Kendall Kitchen, Troy’s Alyssa Parks, and Towanda’s Izzy Larson all had strong weeks. All are state qualifiers, with Kitchen in the pole vault, Parks in the 300 hurdles, and Larson in the 1600. Parks also nearly qualified in the pole vault, with Larson’s 4x800 coming up a heart wrenching .01 seconds short of states. All three are the Female Athletes of the Week.
