YOUTH: TOWANDA JH SOFTBALL TOPS ATHENS TO CLAIM TIM SHAW MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT TITLE (2025-05-21)

Towanda junior high softball claimed the Tim Shaw Memorial Tournament title this past weekend.

They defeated Sayre in their opener 14-2 as Kendal Cook struck out 13, while going 2-for-2 at the plate with a double, and three runs scored.

Ailyn Dulaney (3-for-4) had a triple as Maris Cobb (2-for-3) scored three times. Taylor Aquilio (1-for-3) scored three times, as well, with Kaylen Sluyter, Sadie Overpeck (1-for-4), Maddie Nash (1-for-2), Lily Bartholomew (1-for-2), and Kyleigh Chilson also crossing home.

Rhyann Kithcart (1-for-4) added a hit.

In the title game they defeated Athens 11-7.

Dulaney (2-for-4) scored twice, along with Sluyter (1-for-4). Aquilio (1-for-4), Cobb (1-for-3), Cook (1-for-3), Overpeck, Kithcart (1-for-3), Nash (1-for-3), and Bartholomew (1-for-4) all crossed home.

Cook struck out nine in the win.
