NTL TRACK & FIELD: ANOTHER STRONG SEASON OUT OF TROY IN ATHLETICS (2025-05-31)

Things couldn’t have gone much better for Troy track and field this season as they repeated as NTL Champions on the boys’ side, and came away with two state medals.

“It certainly was a rainy track and field season, but it has been a great year for both Troy’s men’s and women’s teams,” said coach Matt Geer. “The men’s team continued to build on last year’s success, and it was great for them to win the NTL Championship title for the second year. This year, though, was the result of a total team effort — every athlete played a crucial role in the team’s success.”

They won the team title by over 20 points against Athens at the NTL meet, and were also the highest scoring NTL team at districts, taking seventh with 37 points.

Ben Warburton was a district champion and state place winner in long jump, taking fourth at the PIAA Championships, while Avery Sens returned to states in the shot put.

Evan Geer (800), and Cameron Morey (triple jump) were both district medalists, while Kendrick Ross set a new school record in the high jump this season.

“The cherry on top of any season is to take kids to the state meet and it was great to take both Avery Sens and Ben Warburton,” Geer said. “They both are leaders on the team and it was well deserved for all of the hard work they put in. Ben’s fourth place medal was fun to watch as he battled the competitors and the rain.”

For the girls Alyssa Parks was a sixth place state medalist in the 300 hurdles and just missed making states in the pole vault.

Kylee Roy (100 hurdles) and Madelyn Seeley (javelin) were both district medalists while as a team the Trojans were fifth at the NTL Championships.

“On the women’s side, the story was one of steady growth and improvement,” Geer said. “They all pushed themselves and each other, showing incredible progress throughout the season. Having Alyssa Parks qualify for the state meet and bring home a medal, is a proud moment for her and the entire team. Her finish in the 300m hurdle prelims showed her grit and determination.”

Both teams will be looking to rebuild next season but Morey, Ross, and Roy will all be back to lead things in 2026.

“I couldn’t be prouder of all our athletes,” said Geer. “Their dedication, sportsmanship, and the joy they brought to every meet made this season one to remember for a long time.”
