NTL TRACK & FIELD: TOWANDA HAS STELLAR SEASON IN 2025 (2025-06-03)

It was a new chapter for Towanda track and field in 2025 but their excellence continued with multiple state qualifiers, and even a state runner-up.

“Overall, a pretty good season,” first year coach Casey Ellis said. “We had some strong regular season and post season performances across the board including three state qualifiers, a state runner up, and two near state qualifiers in the 4x800 and girls pole vault.”

The girls’ squad battled for the NTL title, taking third with 100.5 points, while the boys came in sixth with 63.

Individually they had a district champion and state silver medalist in Brynn Woodruff, who rewrote the record books in the javelin.

Varrius Farrell was a state qualifier in the discus and shot put, while Izzy Larson made states in the 1600.

Larson teamed with super freshman Mary-Kate Eberlin, Melody Hakes, and Kylee Barnes in the 4x800 as they missed states by just .01 seconds.

Marin Maynard also just missed states in the pole vault by six inches.

On the boys’ side Jazick Brown was a district medalist in the 400.

Going forward they say good-bye to Farrell but the rest return with the girls looking to get that elusive NTL title, and 4x800 relay state bid.

“While we are graduating some seniors that will be very missed, we will be returning many athletes and that combined with some junior high kids moving up we will continue to build like we did this season,” Ellis said.
