NTL SOFTBALL: NEB TO FACE STRONG UNION AREA TEAM IN STATE FINAL (June 12, 2025)

NEB softball made history to start the week, now they’ll look to make more to end it at the PIAA, Class A State Title game against Union.

The game is at 11 a.m. on Penn State’s Beard Field in State College.


Union comes into the game 22-2 and hasn’t allowed a run in the playoffs, beating teams a combined 56-0 over six games. Their closest game was a 3-0 win over Carmichaels in the District VII title game.


In the west semifinal they defeated Cambridge Springs 8-0.


They boast two players that are hitting over .500 - Olivia Williams (.525) and Olivia Benedict (.523). Williams has a team high 47 runs scored, 19-RBI, eight doubles, and four home runs, while Benedict has 35-RBI, 34 runs scored, and nine home runs.


Other key hitters are Mia Preuhs (.438) with 38-RBI, 21 runs scored, eight doubles, and nine home runs, and Irelyn Fisher (.470), who has a team high 13 home runs and 41-RBI to go with 26 runs, and eight doubles.


Seven of their nine starters boast an average over .300.


Their starter Preuhs is 16-2 on the year with 221 strikeouts against 34 walks, and a 0.73 ERA.


NEB (15-7) comes in on a 7-game win streak stretching back to the end of the regular season. Their last six games have been their biggest of the year, with the 7-6 win over Wellsboro to end the regular season clinching the NTL Small School title.


In their five playoff games they’ve out scored opponents 35-6.


Hannah Berger, Orissa Gardner, and Kelsea Moore are all hitting over .400 for the season, with Toni Herb, Makenna Callear, and Kiarra DeLancey all batting over .300.


Their 2-headed pitching attack of Moore and Callear have over 200 strikeouts on the season between them.
