LITTLE LEAGUE: TOWANDA USES FAST START TO HOLD TROY DURING MAJORS BASEBALL (2025-06-24)
Northern Tier Sports ReportTOWANDA — Towanda used an 11-run first inning to survive a late Troy rally as they won 14-10 during District 15 Little League Majors Baseball action Tuesday.
Towanda jumped out to an 11-2 first inning lead, and pushed another run across in the second to take a 12-2 lead.
Troy would out score them 2-1 in the fourth, and then 5-1 in the fifth to make it 14-9. They got on more in the sixth, but couldn’t quite complete the comeback.
Cash Raffin (3-for-4) had a double, a triple, two runs scored, and 2-RBI for Towanda, as Cayson Vanderpool (2-for-2) had a double with 2-RBI, and a run scored.
Madden Wickwire (3-for-3) had a double, three runs scored, and an RBI, as Eli Wilson (2-for-3) had two doubles, two runs scored, and 2-RBI.
Jagger Vargason (2-for-2) had a double with a run scored, and an RBI, with Ben Owen (1-for-3) scoring, and driving in two runs.
Cayden Widrig (1-for-3) scored, and had an RBI, as Riley Butts (1-for-3) scored twice. Rashad Muir chipped in with a run scored.
Vanderpool started and went four innings with two strikeouts, while Butts tossed the final two innings with four strikeouts.
For Troy Jimmy Renzi (3-for-4) had a home run, 2-RBI, and two runs scored, as Creedence Heasley (3-for-4) scored twice.
Ezra Kolb (3-for-3) had a double with an RBI and a run scored, while Colton Wheeler (2-for-4) scored. Ecko Kolb (2-for-3) scored twice, and driven a run, with Owen Watson (2-for-2) hitting a double with an RBI.
Wyatt Pote (1-for-2) had a hit as Connor Packard (1-for-3) drove in a run. Kyper McWhorter chipped in with an RBI.
Watson started, and went 1 1/3-innings with four strikeouts. Renzi went the final four innings with four strikeouts.
Towanda travels to Canton on Thursday with a 6 p.m. start.
