LITTLE LEAGUE: TROY HOLDS OFF LATE SOUTHERN TIOGA RALLY IN MINORS BASEBALL (2025-07-01)
Northern Tier Sports ReportSAYRE — Troy Minors baseball held off a late Southern Tioga rally to pull out a 13-10 win during the District 15 Little League Consolation Bracket final Tuesday.
Both teams scored a run in the first and second innings, but a 4-run third from Troy put them up 6-2. Southern got one back in the bottom half of the inning.
After a scoreless fourth Troy added five more in the top of the fifth for an 11-3 lead.
That’s when Southern rallied with seven runs in the bottom half to make it a 1-run game. Troy got two more insurance runs in the top of the sixth, then held Southern scoreless in the bottom half.
Isaac Watson (4-for-4) was perfect from the plate with four runs scored, while Clayton Morgan (2-for-4) had a double with two runs, and an RBI.
Jairo Misenas (2-for-2) scored twice, and drove in two runs, while Brennan Scott (1-for-2) also crossing home twice.
Jase Sheeley (1-for-3) had 2-RBI with two runs scored, as Ethan Kendall (1-for-3) scored, and drove in a run. Keegan Root (1-for-2) and River Barth each had an RBI.
Kendall got the start, and went three innings with two strikeouts. Root pitched the next 1 1/3-innings, with Barth going the final 1 2/3-innings, striking out three.
Troy will head back to Sayre on Thursday as they take on RTL with a 6 p.m. start. A Troy win forces a winner-take-all game, while an RTL win gives them the district title.
