NTL FOOTBALL: WYALUSING DROPS OPENER AT NP-MANSFIELD (2025-08-23)
Northern Tier Sports ReportBLOSSBURG — Wyalusing couldn’t overcome a slow start as they fell to North Penn-Mansfield, 21-14, in their football season opener Friday.
NPM’s Luke Kreger scored all three Panther touchdowns, starting things off with an 87-yard punt return to the house. After the extra point it was 7-0 with 7:47 on the clock.
Kreger then had a 29-yard run with 4:20 on the clock to make it 14-0 after one.
A Jonathan Earle 10-yard run late in the first half cut it to 14-7 after the John Kerin kick.
Kreger would punch one in from 3-yards out with 1:22 left in the third to make it 21-7.
The Rams would strike back as Early scooped up a fumbled snap and fell into the end zone with 7:14 left in the game. Kerin’s extra point made it a 21-14 contest.
The Rams weren’t able to capitalize late in the first quarter when they got down inside the NPM 10-yard line, while Kreger had a good day on defense, too, with two interceptions. One led to the second touchdown, the other stopped Wyalusing at the 5-yard line.
The Rams did have a goal line stand of their own in the third quarter, squashing NPM on a 4th-and-goal from the 1-yard line.
Wyalusing will look to bounce back as they host CV next Friday for their Hall of Fame night.
