Northern Tier Sports Report
The first full week of Fall gets going with week two of football, and plenty of league action in soccer, golf, and volleyball.

FOOTBALL
Friday, August 29

CV (1-0) at Wyalusing (0-1), 7 p.m.: The Rams will look to bounce back in their home opener as they host the Indians. CV is coming off a big win over Towanda. It’s Hall of Fame night for Wyalusing.

Hughesville (0-1) at Towanda (0-1), 7 p.m.: The Knights’ home opener as they take on the Spartans. Hughesville lost 14-7 to Montgomery in their season opener, while Towanda fell to CV.

South Williamsport (0-1) at Canton (1-0), 7 p.m.: The Warriors stay home as they welcome the Mounties. Canton pulled out a 17-6 win over Northwest, while South fell 47-27 to Athens.

Saturday, August 30
Troy (1-0) at Waverly, 6 p.m.: The season opener for the Wolverines, while Troy is coming off a 57-8 win over Sayre.

VOLLEYBALL
Tuesday, August 26

Towanda at CV, 7 p.m.: The Knights open the season with a long road trip out to CV.

Troy at Williamson, 7 p.m.: The Trojans fell to the Warriors in their season opener last year so they know they start their league title defense off with a tough one.

Wellsboro at Canton, 7 p.m.: The Warriors start the season at home as they take on the defending Class AA District IV champions.

Wyalusing (1-0) at Athens, 7 p.m.: The Rams are headed to the valley as they take on the Wildcats, who reached the Class AAA District IV title game.

Thursday, August 28
Athens at Troy, 7 p.m.: The beginning of divisional play as Troy welcomes the Wildcats for their home opener.

Canton at NEB, 7 p.m.: The Panthers start their two title defenses as they welcome their rivals, the Warriors.

Williamson at Towanda, 7 p.m.: The home opener for the Black Knights in a cross-over match for them against a Warriors squad that made districts last year.

Wyalusing (1-0) at NP-Liberty, 7 p.m.: The Rams continue their tough early season road schedule as they travel to the always tough Mounties.

Saturday, August 30
NEB at Mountain View, 6:30 p.m.: A rematch of last year’s state game that saw Mountain View eke out a win.

GIRLS’ SOCCER
Tuesday, August 26

NP-Mansfield at Wyalusing (2-0), 4 p.m.: The Rams come home after winning the Meadowbrook Christian School Tournament title. They swept the Tigers in 2024.

NEB at Williamson, 4 p.m.: A tough opener for the new look Panthers as the Warriors were district qualifiers a year ago.

Troy at Towanda, 6 p.m.: Quite the opener for both teams as the 5-time defending league champs hit the road to take on a young Black Knight squad.

Thursday, August 28
Williamson at Troy, 4 p.m.: The Trojans’ home opener as they take on a tough Warriors squad that has given them fits in the past.

NEB at Wyalusing, 4 p.m.: This contest has provided some exciting bouts in the last few years as both squads are looking to make some noise this season.

Towanda at Athens, 5:30 p.m.: The tough early start to the season continues for Towanda as they head up to the valley to take on perennial powerhouse Athens.

Saturday, August 30
Wyalusing at Elk Lake, 10 a.m.: The Rams’ busy early slate continues as they play their five game in eight days, going just down the road for this one.

Troy at Montoursville, 5 p.m.:
A tough early test for the Trojans, who edged the Warriors in tournament action last year.

BOYS’ SOCCER
Monday, August 25

NEB at Elk Lake, 4:15 p.m.: The Panthers hit the road for their season opener as part of a three game week.

Muncy at Troy, 4:30 p.m.: The Trojans come home after playing at the Hughesville Tournament.

Sullivan County at Towanda, 4:30 p.m.: The Knights open the season at home as they take on the Griffins.

Wednesday, August 27
Athens at NEB, 4 p.m.: A tough one for NEB to start the league season with as they welcome the Wildcats.

NP-Liberty at Troy, 4 p.m.: The Trojans welcome the Mounties to open the league season.

Williamson at Towanda, 6 p.m.: The Knights’ early home stand continues as they welcome the Warriors.

Saturday, August 30
Montgomery at NEB, 11 a.m.: The Panthers play their third game in six days as they welcome the Raiders.

Troy at Montoursville, 3 p.m.: The five game in eight days for the Trojans as they hit the road down south again.

GOLF
Monday, August 25

Towanda hosts NTL match, 4:30 p.m.: The Knights host their first 9-hole match.

Wyalusing at NP-Mansfield, 4:30 p.m.: The Rams head to Corey Creek for a 9-hole match against the Tigers.

Wednesday, August 27
Towanda at Canton, 4:30 p.m.: The Knights head to Corey Creek to take on the Warriors.

Wyalusing at Athens, 4:30 p.m.: The Rams head to the valley to face the defending league champions.

CROSS-COUNTRY
Saturday, August 30

Towanda, NEB at Cliff Robbins, 9:30 a.m.: The Knights and Panthers get the season started at the Misericordia Invite.

Troy, Wyalusing at Bear Mountain River Run: The Trojans head to Lock Haven to open their season.
