NTL BOYS' SOCCER: TOWANDA'S LATE RALLY COMES UP SHORT AGAINST SULLIVAN COUNTY (2025-08-25) Northern Tier Sports Report TOWANDA — Towanda rallied late but couldn’t quite catch Sullivan County in their 2-1 loss during non-league boys’ action Monday.
The Knights got a break early as they they were taken down in the box for a penalty kick, but it went wide left.
Later in the opening half Madden Fries buried one from 40-yards away just under the cross-bar to make it 1-0 Griffins at the half. Tucker Blasi had an assist on the goal.
Blasi then scored in the second half to make it 2-0 Griffins.
Towanda got on the scoreboard off a Josh Maye shot but couldn’t quite complete the comeback.
Sullivan had an 18-10 edge in shots, though Towanda had a 6-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Blaiz Nichols made 14 saves in net for the Knights.
Towanda (0-1) opens league play on Wednesday as they host Williamson for a 6 p.m. start.
