NTL VOLLEYBALL: CANTON FALLS TO WELLSBORO IN SEASON OPENER (2025-08-26)

CANTON — Canton fell to Wellsboro, 3-0, in their volleyball season opener on Tuesday.

The Hornets won the sets 25-21, 25-9, and 25-13.

Danah Wesneski had five points, an ace, a kill, 11 assists, three digs, and one block for the Warriors, with Tara Gilbert added 12 points, one ace, three kills, and five digs.

Cailyn VanNoy notched four points, six kills, one assist, and five digs, as Kaybree Kendall had three points, an ace, an assists, and six digs.

Makenna Seachrist finished with five kills and two blocks, with Nevaeh Vroman getting five points, two assists, and two digs.

Alyssa May had two points with an ace, Adelynn Cardona notched six points, and two aces, and Emilee Walker finished with a kill.

Wellsboro won the JV match 2-1. The Hornets took the first set 25-7, but Canton rallied for a 25-18 win in the second set. 

Wellsboro won the third set 15-3.

Lindley Sechrist had four aces, three kills, and six digs for Canton as Raya Preston notched a kill, three digs, and three assists.

Lexi McMurray had two aces, two kills, and a dig, with Brenna VanNoy getting two digs and five assists.

Emilia Pepper had an ace, a kill, and a dig, as Hannah Walters had an ace, two kills, and a dig.

Amelia Pepper had an ace with three digs, Lydia Mead had one kill, and Jerk Strozyk finished with two digs.

Canton (0-1) travels to NEB on Thursday.
