NTL VOLLEYBALL: TROY BATTLES PAST ATHENS (2025-08-28)

Northern Tier Sports Report
TROY — Troy shook off a slow start to down Athens, 3-1, during NTL volleyball action Thursday.

The Wildcats took the first set 25-22, but the Trojans rallied to win the next three 25-14, 25-17, and 25-20.

“We’re slowly finding our rhythm,” said Troy coach Abby Herman-Deitrick. “This group of girls works hard together, and they each bring their own tricks. It’s hard to play with a pretty much brand new team at the start of the season, but I can’t wait to watch them grow even more. We have a lot of errors to clean up, but they listen well to find the openings on Athens’ side, which helped us get the win.”

Aryana Andrus had 15 kills, and two blocks, with Alexa Lawrence getting six kills, two assists, two aces, and 16 digs.

Alli Bailey finished with six kills, three assists, five aces, and 27 digs, as Brenna Jackson had five kills, 14 digs, and one block.

Bella Wood notched five kills, one assist, one dig, and a block, with Haidyn Watson adding two kills, six aces, 10 digs, and a block.

Amber White had a kill, an assist, six digs, and one block, while Liana Lyon finished with six digs, one kill, and one ace.

“Playing smart but also aggressive was the tactic of the night,” Herman-Deitrick said. “Our serve receive improved as we continued against Athens’ strong servers, and our consistent serving helped clinch the win tonight.”
