NTL FOOTBALL: WYALUSING GRINDS OUT WIN OVER CV (2025-08-29)

Northern Tier Sports Report
WYALUSING — Wyalusing scored 23 unanswered second half points to pull away from Cowanesque Valley, 30-14, during NTL football action Friday. They rallied from a 14-7 halftime deficit.

“We constantly talk about it’s not what happened, it’s about how you respond to what happened,” said Wyalusing coach Rich Rogers. “Plenty of missed opportunities in the first half - I mean how many touchdowns we dropped in the first half, wide open passes, and then give up that late on at the end - but in the locker room it was all about not what happened, but how you’re going to respond to what happened.”

The Rams rushed for 221-yards and found two big touchdown strikes the passing game as they bounced back from a Week-1 loss to North Penn-Mansfield.

Wyalusing ran the ball 56 times and had 63 offensive snaps as they wore down the Indians.

“We reinforced the fact that ‘you can push them around,’” explained Rogers. “We did it in the first half, now go back out there and opening drive of the second half was huge to re-establish. We are dominating here, so let’s just keep it going.”

Jonathan Earle rushed for 121-yards and a touchdown on 22 carries while Ethan Vanderpool added 70-yards on 23 carries with a score.

Under center Reuben Kinney ran the ball 28-yards on eight touches, while going 2-for-7 for 63-yards with two touchdowns and an interception.

“I’m very happy because there’s nobody harder on Reuben than Reuben, and he was really down on himself in the first half with the missed passes, and the opportunities there,” Rogers said. “I’m very happy to see how he responded, especially defensively.”

Andrew Taylor scored his first varsity touchdown, and then his second, hauling in both scoring passes.

“I’m happy for Andrew Taylor to get his first varsity touchdown,” Rogers said. “It was a good team effort all around, and I’m very happy with how they responded.”

Dave Hess ran for 96-yards on 16 carries to lead CV while Levi Stahli was 8-for-17 for 85-yards with two touchdowns, and a pick.

Christian Perdomo hauled in four passes for 45-yards and a score to lead the Indians.

Earle opened up the scoring with a 4-yard run in the first quarter, making it 7-0 after the John Kerin kick with 18 seconds left.

CV then got two big pass plays for touchdowns as Levi Stahli hit Christian Perdomo for an 8-yard strike with 57 seconds left, then found Cam Stahli for a 30-yard touchdown pass as time expired.

They got the 2-point conversion on the first, but not the second, to take the 14-7 lead at the half.

The Rams came out in the third and were able to open up the offense some as Kinney found Taylor for an 18-yard scoring strike. Kerin’s kick was good and it tied up with 4:34 on the clock.

Then came the big fourth, beginning with Ethan Vanderpool’s 3-yard scoring run with 10:10 left to play. Kerin added the point after for a 21-14 lead.

With 6:51 left Kinney hit Taylor on a 46-yard scoring strike. Addisyn Bly made the PAT for a 28-0 lead.

Jesse Lamb then got the final score when he round down Hess in the end zone for a safety with 15 seconds to play.

Wyalusing is back at home next Saturday as they host Wellsboro.
