NTL VOLLEYBALL: TOWANDA RALLIES PAST ATHENS (2025-09-10)

Northern Tier Sports Report
ATHENS — Towanda rallied from a 2-1 deficit to beat Athens, 3-2, during NTL Large School volleyball action Tuesday.

The Wildcats pulled out a 25-23 first set win but the Knights responded with a 25-19 victory in the second set.

Athens would roll to a 25-16 third set win, but Towanda clawed back to win the fourth set 25-22. They took the deciding set 15-9.

“This was a great win for the girls,” said Towanda coach Cassie Smith. “I’m proud of the grit and resilience they showed, especially in the fourth and fifth sets. I think they proved to themselves tonight that they can win a close match. We always know it’s going to be a battle when Athens is on the other side of the net, so it was a fun game to watch. They are a quality team that made some awesome plays both defensively and offensively. We definitely felt all of the emotions from the sidelines. We had a couple of players step up for us big time in those last two sets. Specifically, Ali Hollett brought the energy we needed from the service line, and she did a great job putting the ball in our hitters’ hands. Overall, the girls never gave up, and played without fear. That’s what got them this big win tonight.”

Hollett had 11 assists, seven points, four digs, and two aces, as Brooklyn Evans notched 15 kills, two blocks, 10 points, two aces, and 19 digs.
