NTL FOOTBALL: CANTON WELCOMES NP-MANSFIELD FOR SATURDAY CONTEST (2025-09-11)

Northern Tier Sports Report
Canton (1-2) will host a red hot North Penn-Mansfield (3-0) with a 1 p.m. Saturday start.

Canton’s coming off a tough loss to equally hot Athens last week.

“We are working on the small details, the basics, and individually each player is working to improve from last week,” said coach Tyler Sechrist.

The Panthers used a late touchdown to beat Towanda last Friday as they are undefeated going into Week-4 for the first time in nine years.

“North Penn-Mansfield is off to a great start this season, and Jed Wright has their program trending in the right direction,” remarked Sechrist.

There were some positives last week, though, for the Warriors as freshman quarterback Owen Moore threw his first touchdown pass.

They’ll be hoping to see more of that this Saturday.

“It is exciting to see our younger players develop from week to week as they get more varsity playing experience,” said Sechrist.

KEYS TO THE GAME
North Penn-Mansfield - Watch the QB option. Towanda’s Reese Sluyter ran for 140-yards last week as the Knights had their best offensive game of the season. Canton may well try to do the same this week.
Canton - Stay disciplined defensively. NPM moves the ball around three different ball carries, so Canton will need to stay home or else risk giving up the big play.

PLAYERS TO WATCH
Bradley Brooks, NPM, QB - Brooks was quietly efficient last week, going 3-for-4 for 43 yards and a touchdown. That’s a nice complement to their strong run game.
Monte Whitehead, Canton, WR - Whitehead has emerged as a receiving threat for the Warriors with two touchdowns last Friday. They’ll need that production to help keep teams from stacking the box.
